Whiterain felt like it was time to test Shadowpack's eldest apprentices. She called for both of them and waited.

"Hello Moonpaw, Ashpaw. I believe you two are ready for your first assessment. Follow me.", Whiterain woofed, and padded out of camp.

Ashpaw and Moonpaw exchanged excited glances and followed Whiterain. "I'm excited," she whispered to Ashpaw. He nodded in agreement.

Whiterain lead the apprentices into the pine forest, where she stopped. "Right. Your task is to collect as much prey as you can before sunhigh. Don't neglect to practice all of your hunting skills, as you must hunt by yourselves. Ashpaw, you're to go to the stream, and see what you can find there. Moonpaw, you're to check around those ferns over there. And remember, I'll be watching you. You may go now."

Ashpaw and Moonpaw both nodded and went into different directions.
Moonpaw closed her eye and sniffed the air. 'Let's see. Vole, mice, frogs, blackbirds, and a rabbit,' she listed in her head. 'I'll go with frog first,' she decided. Moonpaw stalked over in the direction of the frogs. Soon enough, five meaty frogs were on a rock. Remembering what Thornshadow had taught her, she kept her body close to the ground and her tail slightly up. Once she got close enough, she wriggled her haunches and pounced. She got three of the frogs under her paws and gave them a swift nip to the spine, killing instantly. 'Great!' she praised herself. She grabbed them by the legs over to a tree and buried them. 'Onto the blackbirds now!'
Ashpaw had arrived at the stream and sniffed the ground. He smelt voles near the bank. Ashpaw followed the trail to a tiny hole and stuck his paw in. Voles were squeaking and running around his paw. He managed to snag a few of them with a claw, three at the most and pulled them out. He buried them and went back to the bank. He sniffed around some more and saw a deer upstream. 'Oh boy! Whiterain will be so proud!' he woofed in his head. It was a small doe that appeared to be bleeding from it's neck. Being careful he was downwind, he began to creep towards it. His tail was slightly up, and his belly fur brushed the ground. When he was close enough, he jumped in the air and landed on it's neck. There was a clean bullet hole and he could see the injured neck bone. With all his might, he bit down hard and yanked his head, hearing a snapping noise. The doe started to run and kick, but it was too weak to keep it up. The doe collapsed and let its head fall in the stream. 'Yes!' he praised, but his back started to hurt. 'After I'm done with her, I smell some frogs.'

Moonpaw padded back to her prey tree with four blackbirds. She buried them with her three frogs and sniffed the air again. The sweet scent of mice wafted up her nose. She followed it to an abandon tree. She stuck her ear on the tree trunk and heard the scurrying of tiny claws. She licked her maw and tapped the trunk with her paw. Mice flooded out of their nest, and Moonpaw's eye feasted on the tasty glory. She pounced on the wave of mice and killed as much as she could. She ended up with ten mice. She grabbed their tailsand put them with her other prey. She looked at the sun, it was almost sunhigh. "I hope I won't disappoint Thornshadow. He was like my second father, and I want to make him proud of me. Of what I will become," she mumbled to herself as she buried her prey.

stalker. XD
Ashpaw dragged the small doe over to his prey pile, being careful not to crush his voles. Then a flock of sparrows landed upwind of him, and he smiled and licked his maw. He crept as he had done before, towards the blackbirds. Being a little too optmistic and confident, he forgot to watch his footing and stepped on a twig. The sharp snap frightened the birds and they flew off. "Bear dung!" he cursed under his breath. With one final attempt, he ran and jumped into the air. Luckily, he managed to snag one by it's wing and brought it down. "Phew," he sighed one it was dead. He picked it up and padded back to the tree. It was almost sunhigh. "How long have I been hunting?" he wondered to his self.

Thornshadow was watching Moonpaw so intently that he didn't see the wolf the attacked him, but he knew the scent, Rose!
Rose was out hunting in SP territory when she saw Thornshadow and smiled. She began to stalk him and then, she jumped and bit Thornshadow's shoulder blade.
Thornshadow howled in agony and he grabbed Rose by the neck and threw her down on the ground.
