Pendergast watched his daughter, Versailles, play with her cousin Dio. It was nice to see his brother's son interacting so well with her. Pendergast frowned. Though Diogenes was his brother, and accepted him, Blackrose, and Versailles into the pack, his brother never fully accepted him. All in good time, he thought. Shaking his head to get back into the present, Pendergast allowed himself a small grin. Versailles looked just like him; the same cream-colored fur, but with a rosey-ish tinge. She also had the same blue eyes of Daph, Versailles' grandmother. With a content sigh, Pendergast rose to his paws to go hunting.
Dio laughed as Versailles tugged on his ear. "I got you!", she squealed with glee, and growled playfully. "Hey, I need that!", he giggled, and gently wrestled with her. "Now I got you!", Dio proclaimed as he pinned his cousin down.

"That was a pretty good trick.", Diogenes said as he watched Lucy.

A pair of eyes watched from the shadows, tingling with jealousy and admiration. Malvina was watching Dio play with his cousin, and smiled a little. This wolf always had a small connection with him, far greater than a friendship, or that's what she thought. Playing with the bone of a rabbit, casually fiddling with it but her eyes never did leave her Litter-mate.
With a sharp sigh, her wild fantasies ran free. Somehow, they seemed to lift her off the ground and into the clouds, reality a distant memory. Her ears twitched as her cousin padded from behind. Sheeva plopped down beside Malvina. "So what'cha doin'? Are you eying Dio again?" Sheeva blurted, fully aware of her Uncle in close range.
The solid white she-wolf slapped her tail against the young pup's mouth, wishing she could've smacked harder. "No. I'm watching the leaves fall," she lied tartly. Then, she focused back on the barn and it's occupants.

Diogenes' ear swiveled to catch Sheeva's comment, but said nothing. It seemed his young son was an unfortunate ladies' wolf.
Blackrose padded up to Dio and Versailles. She relieved him of his babysitting duties to take her daughter out hunting, hoping they'd catch up with Pendergast. Dio watched them leave, and turned around, catching Malvina's eye. He could have sworn that he spotted a wistful longing buried deep within her gaze. Curious, Dio stared harder, his blue and silver eyes focused on Malvina's face, but she blinked and he lost what he had been searching for. Underneath his fur, Dio's skin tingled and felt hot. What is happening to me?, he thought, but almost immediately knew the answer. The young, black wolf stepped forward. "Malvina.", Dio said, his voice even and jovial. "Would you like to hunt with me?", he asked.

Once Dio's words entered her snowy white ear, she could've swore the heart inside her stopped. Am I dreaming? she asked herself as she glanced into her Litter-mate's eyes. She nodded her head, eyes softening, and a flirtatious smile crept across her maw. "I would love to, Dio," she replied. Standing to her paws, she smiled a bit and walked to Dio's side and lead him out of the barn.
The air was chilly in the late morning, the sky was gently kissed with a nice orange sherbet color. Every breath Malvina took, cooled her lungs and sent a pleasant message through out, a calming message of peace. "Sure is a beautiful day, huh Dio?" she asked, her tone sweet and blissful.

As he walked beside Malvina, Dio's head turned in her direction. Her smile was irresistably alurring. "Yes, it is.", he agreed. "Everything is changing. Pretty soon, all of the leaves will fall from the trees, covering the land with their vibrant color." Dio knew Malvina knew about leaf-fall, but what else was there to talk about? Rather, he prattled on about leaf-fall as to cover a nervous inner shell. Dio stopped talking when he scented moose. It would be hardly a challenge; all he needed to do was suck the unfortunate creature's life force, weakening it, then Malvina would slit it's throat. Simplicity.

Malvina knew something had caught Dio's attention when he stopped talking. Her ear swivled in his direction, hearing nothing. A juice, warm smell wafted up her nose the one thing that made her mouth water. Moose, my favorite treat. I hardly got some, but when Keeva brought some home, wow, she remembered. Tears threatened to run on her cheeks, but she held them back. Missing her "mother" was the hardest thing fighter could cope with.
Shaking away the harsh memories, she glanced at Dio. "Want some moose?" she asked, a smirk on her face.

"Unless you want to hunt something else.", Dio replied. "I really don't mind."

Malvina shook her head. "Nope, not at all. Moose is perfect. Lead the way?" she asked.
