Orchidfrost was hunting by herself, which was completely normal. She went out by herself often. It would be a shame to be a heavier burden than she was meant to be. A scent caught her attention. Swallow. Orchidfrost followed the scent, creeping expertly among the ferns. She spotted a vibrant blue barn swallow futilely pecking the ground for the worm it had lost. As Orchidfrost moved in, the ground vibrated, and the swallow took off, but suddenly became frozen in midair, its wings outstretched.
Orchidfrost stared at it in wonder. Why did it just freeze like that? She circled around it, scrutinizing it. "Fascinating, isn't it?", a deep voice sounded behind her. Orchidfrost spun around to see a black wolf staring at her, his violet eyes drawing her in. Orchidfrost bristled and growled. "Fiesty I see. But don't worry, I'm not staying long. I've been meaning to find you.", the stranger said, amused.
"Who are you..?", Orchidfrost asked, relaxed but all the more still cautious. The stranger continued to stare. "Matrix. And I have come to tell you that your efforts are futile.", Matrix said. "Efforts?", Orchidfrost inquired, feigning confusion, but it didn't work. Matrix laughed. "Don't pretend you don't know. While Bloodspill lives inside you, you cannot be normal. Normal doesn't even comprehend what you are. You're not supposed to exist, but yet you were formed by supernatural powers. Powers we cannot understand. But you can give in to it, the darkness that grows inside you."
Orchidfrost growled. "As long as I follow my heart, and do what is right, I will never give in to the darkness!" Again, Matrix laughed. "Your heart does not belong to you, therefore, you don't have one. You function with your mind, doing things based on rational thoughts, while you constantly wage wars on the thing that is controlling you. You may as well give up, as you can never win. Nobodies always lose. You can escape this fate, however. If you let me, I can help you. The Pack wolves you live with cannot help you, as they do not understand the predicament that has been placed on your shoulders. With my help, you can live a free life. All you need to do is give in to the darkness."
Orchidfrost considered this. She'd give anything to be free of this daily torment. And Matrix was right--no one except him understood her. Perhaps he could help her after all. Matrix blinked. "I'll give you a moon to think it over. At sundown before the night of the halfmoon, meet me here again.", he said, and turned to leave. After a while, he disappeared, and the swallow was free from the time-stop, but Orchidfrost was too busy thinking to notice its escape. I'm a Nobody..., she thought.
If you want to respond, I don't mind if anyone saw Matrix, or heard the conversation.
