just pretend Yellowstar died because of his illness
Whiterain sighed as she laid alone in the nursery, silent tears rolling down her torn cheeks, which were crusted with dried blood. She had lost nearly everything; her sanity, her pup, her leader, some of her close friends. She closed her eyes in anger. This is all Starpack's fault. Why did they not protect us from Sun's Death and the Renegades? My mother told me the code would protect us, but it has done nothing. I have never doubted Starpack's wisdom, but now I'm just not sure...
Echohowl padded into the nursery, looking down at the forlorn form of her deputy. "Whiterain, I brought you some herbs.", she said softly.
Whiterain looked up, opening her eyes to stare blankly at Echohowl. "Very well. Not that it will help my morale.", she whispered.
Echohowl blinked. "Keep faith in Starpack. They will help us through these terrible times."
Whiterain's golden eyes blazed in anger and she bristled, leaping to her paws. Echohowl stepped back, startled. "Starpack!", she spat. "They have never helped us! They have turned away from us in our hour of need. The moon turned black, Echohowl, did you see?! They no longer care about our fate! If they did, they would have protected us from Sun's Death and the Renegades, but they haven't!", she snarled.
Echohowl, stunned by Whiterain's hostility, remained silent. She decided to change the subject. "Well..Yellowstar is dead. The code decrees that you should go to the Moonstone to receive your nine lives."
Whiterain just looked away. Echohowl was shocked. If Whiterain turned away from Starpack and the code, what would happen to Shadowpack?
