Huttser's hackles came up as he saw a she-wolf standiing on the slope, watching them from the shadows above. She looked old, maybe six or seven, and her eyes glittered as she gazed down. Her right ear was missing, and her muzzel had grown strange tufts of fur that had clearly sprouted over the deep facial scars underneath. Around her jaw were the dark stains from her kill.
"Who are you?" snarled Huttser.
"Just a passing Kerl," answered the stranger coolly, and she be-gan to pad down the slope staight toward them. Her vioce was soft and reassuring, but Huttser thought it was ripe.
"What do you want here?" he said as the stranger reached level ground infront of them.
"Want? Why to share a little love that i herd in the den. I hope a stranger has a place at the feast."
Suddenly a bird hopped out from behind the she-wolf. It was a raven, coal black and beady-eyed, and even as it did so, the pack herd Palla's vioce.
"Morgra" She hissed furiously
Palla has frozen at the den mouth with Brassa standing next to her. Palla's eyes were flashing like flint. She had swung her whole body around to protect the den and was baring her teeth. Bran and Kipcha shrank away toward the den immediately, and Huttser and Khaz prepared to spring, ready to defend the pups in the cave against the cub killer But Morgra just smiled coldly as she advanced on the pack.
"Come, sister," she whispered. "There's no need to show your teeth. I wish you no harm. i dont want to spread discord through your pack."
"What do you want Morgra?" Growled Palla. "Want? Why, Palla, to koin your pack, of course"
"Join our pack" Stammered Palla, "but you...the Balkar..."
"The Night Hunters are not family" snorted Morgra immediately, "and to lead a pack of Draggas (females) is no satis facation to a she-wolf. but now you have little ones..."
Morgra stepped forward and her eyes were searching beyond.
"Keep your distance,Morgra---"
"Wont you let me come home, sister?"
"Home?" Palla muttered, amazed by the strangeness of it. "Do you think i forgot "
"forgotten?" she whispered. "But you were too younge to even remember Palla. They were mistaken."
"cub killer," growled Khaz suddenly
"I am no cub killer," hissed Morgra
"And is it your love of cubs, Morgra," Said Huttser angrily, "that led to this edict? that forced us to flee through the snows to protect our little ones. That killed two of my pups."
Morgra growled softly, but she didnt give way a whisker, and her face showed not the slightest remorse.
"I, kill your cubs?" she said coldly. "More accusations, Huttser. Becareful how you throw around blame, it may come back to you."
