Phoenixfeather wanted to make up for being rude to her father. After hunting, she brought him a starling. "Hey, Tornear. I brought you something to eat.", she woofed. Tornear looked up. "About time.", he muttered, taking the starling. Phoenixfeather watched her father for a moment. "Father, I just wanted to say..well, I'm sorry for how I've been acting.", she said as Tornear ate. He looked up again, a feather hanging off his muzzle. "Well it's about time! You've been more bothersome than a pelt full of fleas.", he growled. Phoenixfeather bristled. That wasn't the answer she expected! She tried to be patient, but her temper broke. "Is that all you have to say? I've done everything I can to be a good daughter, but you don't appreciate me anymore! I don't even know if you love me anymore! All you care about is if you're belly's full, and that you're nest is perfect. You don't ever stop to cherish the beauty of this world! You're probably the reason why Grayrose is gone; you never loved her! Ugh, I hate you!", Phoenixfeather shouted, then stormed out of the den. Tornear looked crestfallen. "Phoenixfeather.", he whispered, but she had gone.
In the shadows of the pines and shrubs, two different colored eyes blinked. Now was his time to do something Layla had not. He pushed his way into the elder's den, and faced Tornear. Though he was bigger than himself, Dio stalked forward. "Hey, who are--", Tornear started, but Dio was quick. He leaped at the old wolf, slamming into his frail body. Dio's jaws fastened around Tornear's neck, and ripped the flesh, feeling blood well up. Tornear, being weak, had no fight left in him. His body gave up, and his heart failed. Dio dropped the deadweight, sucking the last of the wolf's energy out of him. Already he felt stronger. Then, Dio's silver and blue glare met a gray wolf's gaze, and he slipped away.

Ashfang heard the commotion and watched from a bush. He watched in horror as Tornear was ripped to pieces. The small black pup wasn't normal, it looked like, like, like, Diogenes! 'No way! I thought he left! I must tell everyone!' he thought. Ashfang burst into camp howling,"Murder! Murder! Tornear has been murdered!"
Moonfeather, Venomfang, and Cocoamane all ran towards the elder's den. Moonfeather and to turn away. "No," Venomfang and Moonfeather whispered.

Phoenixfeather whirled around. Her amber eyes glittered in shock. Moonrun, who was eating, looked up, eyes narrowing. Phoenixfeather pushed past Venomfang, Ashfang, and Moonfeather. Her gaze travelled to Tornear's broken frame, blood trickling down his throat onto the dusty ground. "No. No. NOOOO!!!! It can't be! Father, come back! COME BACK! I DON'T HATE YOU, I LOVE YOU! TORNEAR COME BACK! I love you!", she wailed, nudging her father roughly, trying to wake him up, make him move.

"Moonfeather, go get Whiterain," Venomfang ordered. Moonfeather nodded and ran into the nursery. Venomfang rushed to Phoenixfeather and gingerly grabbed her scruff. "Come on, Phoenixfeather!" he barked, trying to drag her out of the den.

"No! Stop, let go of me!", Phoenixfeather wailed, thrashing, but Venomfang was stronger. Whiterain met them as they came out of the den. "Moonfeather told me that Tornear has been murdered.", she sighed.

Ashfang nodded. "That's right. It's bad, I saw who did it," he woofed.
Venomfang tugged on Phoenixfeather and dragged her into the warrior's den and barricaded the entrance. "You can't see him like that, Phoenixfeather!" he barked.

Phoenixfeather ignored Venomfang. She laid down and put her paws over her face. "The last thing I said to him was that I hated him.", she whispered.

Venomfang walked over to her and laid beside her. He pushed her head under his and licked her ear. "He knew you didn't mean it," he whispered.

Phoenixfeather was silent as she lay there with Venomfang. Whiterain needed to discuss a plan with the senior warriors. She called for Moonrun, Venomfang, Phoenixfeather, Bearclaw, and Lilacspring, as well as Echohowl.

Venomfang gave a stern nod. "We do, that Keeva and Diogenes has gone too far. We need to do something about it, and something tells me that they have a secret alliance with Sun's Death. We need to destroy them, now. I could go tell Silentstar and warn them," he woofed. He leaned on Phoenixfeather a little.
