Silence. It creeps so quietly in the darkness, the rapturous, mysterious darkness that is night. It makes no sound as the light is sucked up by a gaping hole. But you do not see it. You do not see the moon-washed serenade for the eyes because they are closed. You are sleeping and dreaming so soundly, so still, like a slumbering angel. Your steady breathing becomes in-sync with the twinkling of the stars. Sleep, angel, sleep....
Cheetahheart lay still in his nest. The den was warm with the body heat of the wolves around him. The warmth covered him like a blanket. He had been waiting all night. Waiting for sleep to come, but it did not. Now a waxing moon hung in a black sky, floating in a sea of stars. It's silver light reflected in his brazen amber orbs as they stared in wonder of this celestial majesty. Cheetahheart's ebony ears rotated to catch the sound of an owl hooting. And so the creatures of night awaken. He sighed quietly and rested his broad golden head on his paws.

Sundance couldn't sleep, she had to much on her mind. The death of Tornear and Cocoamane stayed violently in her head, as well as the joyous memory of Moonfeather and Bramblethorn becoming warriors. The beautiful she-wolf sighed and rose to her paws. She quietly padded towards the clearing from her far corner. She padded past her sister, friends, and Cheetahheart, the new warrior. Being careful not to awaken the slumbering warriors, she was light on her paws. Her tail accidentally brushed Cheetahheart's head, but she kept going until she was out of the den.

The golden warrior raised his head as Sundance quietly left the den. She was beautiful; this goddess named Sundance. Moonlight played on her soft fur as she stepped out into the night, with a pair of amber eyes following her leave. Concerned, Cheetahheart rose on powerful legs and followed, though not at a close pace. He sat down by the entrance to the den, curling his thick, feathery tail neatly over his paws. He raised his head to speak in a soft whisper. "I do beg your pardon, but is there anything the matter?"

Sundance turned around to see Cheetahheart. Her heart skipped a beat at the sight of this handsome male. "I didn't mean to wake you, but I have a lot of things on my mind. It has been bothering me, and I try to tell someone how I feel, but they don't listen," she sighed quietly. The slight moonlight and the breeze danced with her ginger fur, then with Cheetahheart's. Sundance lost her breath in the wind, but somehow managed to catch it back.

Cheetahheart blinked his amber eyes. "Then please allow me to listen.", he replied, and his ears perked up attentively.

Sundance smiled a faint smile. "Well, it's just that my friends are dying. Tornear and Cocoamane has been murdered, and I can't get their....bodies out of my head," she muttered.

Cheetahheart nodded symapthetically. "Yes. It is always very sad when someone you care about passes away. I myself have had trouble trying to sleep, but the sorrow, it fills me deeply. Nonetheless, we shan't grieve long; Tornear and Cocoamane are both in a safer, better place, and that is in Starpack. Though they died tragically, we must remain strong to fight another day, so that we might avenge their untimely deaths."

Sundance nodded. "We must. I hope that they'll light our paths, but why ShadowPack? What did e ever do to StarPack?" she pondered. Tears were welling up, and small tears were cascading down her cheek

"Please do not cry.", Cheetahheart pleaded. "Cherish the life your friends had. That is what I do."

Sundance smiled faintly. She carefully wipe the cascading tear with her golden tail tip, turning it brown with it's wet sorrow. "I will do that. I will try to cherish their lives," she promised. Her heart began to race faster than a galloping horse, but she managed to control it.

Cheetahheart grinned, happy he had made a difference, that he had listened. Sundance was hurting; she needed someone to hear her. "Are now feeling at least a little better than you have before?", he inquired.

She nodded slowly. "You know, I have. I have you to thank, you really know how to make people feel happier," she explained. A slow smile spread across her lips, showing beautiful, milky white teeth. She licked his cheek in gratitude and looked into his eyes. "Thank you for hearing me out. It means a lot," she murmured.

Cheetahheart bowed grandly. He looked up at Sundance. "For you, anytime.", he whispered.

Sundance giggled quietly. "Let's get some sleep before the sun rises," she muttered.
