Without turning from her patient, Echohowl answered the question. "It appears Whiterain was kicked very hard in the stomach. She is bleeding internally, and I fear the worst for both of them.", she sighed. Then Whiterain sparked back to life, willed on by her strong will to survive. Her heart hammered painfully in her chest. "It's coming, Echohowl.", Whiterain whispered, squinting her eyes in pain. Her pup was coming. The brutality in Sun's Death had triggered a natural response.

Moonpaw and Ashpaw gasped. "Ashpaw, leave now!" Moonpaw rasped. Aashpaw sped out of the den without a question. "Echohowl? Do you need my help?" she asked.

Echohowl nodded. She placed a paw on Whiterain's shoulder, feeling her tingle with contractions. "Stay here, I'm going to go fetch poppy seeds, borage, cobwebs, and juniper berries."

"Aye," Moonpaw woofed. She walked over to Whiterain and gently rubbed her shoulder. "Breathe, Whiterain," she coaxed.

Whiterain's pained golden eyes met Moonpaw's blue ones. She was delerious. "Bearclaw?", she asked.

'What should I do?' Moonpaw wondered. She beckoned Venomfang with her tail. He walked in and stood behind Moonpaw. "He's here, right Bearclaw?" she whispered. Venomfang gasped then nodded. "Yes, I'm here," she tried to sound as close to Bearclaw as he could.

Whiterain relaxed. She sighed and took deep breaths. Echohowl returned with the herbs. "Thank you, Moonpaw, but I think I can handle it from here. All of you must leave now.", she woofed. " Don't worry, I'll come and get you when she is ready.", Echohowl added.

Moonpaw nodded and limped out to where her friends were. She sat next to Arawn and Venomfang and sighed.

After what seemed an eternity, Echohowl burst out of the medicine wolf den. Her blue eyes sparkled with success. "Whiterain and her pup lives! It's a male, and she has named him Littlepup. Though Whiterain is tired, she wants to see you all.", Echohowl announced. Phoenixfeather and Moonrun exhaled with relief.

Moonpaw, Ashpaw, Venomfang, Cocoamane all sighed with relief. Moonpaw was the first into the den, and everyone else followed, but Arawn. "I guess I'm not allowed in, huh Echohowl?" he sighed.

Whiterain looked up from watching her pup suckle. "Better, thanks to Echohowl. Would you like to meet Littlepup?", she asked.

"Would I? I would love to! Hello Littlepup, I'm Moonpaw!" she whispered to the tiny pup. Cocoamane sighed in awe. Venomfang and Arawn looked on with awe. Ashpaw just looked. "Whiterain, I'm am glad you are okay. I am no longer a threat to you all. Sun's Death has kicked me out," he woofed as he stepped forward.
