Ravenfire padded over to her apprentice. "Well, upon my word. An apprentice I don't have to drag out of camp. Great job at being punctual.", she said, trying to joke around.

Dovepaw smiled. she was a bit cautious around Ravenfire, cuz she tended to snap, and always looked ,well grumpy. but she seemed to be changing... Dovepaw wanted to help her
"I wanted to make a good impression. Plus, Rainstar kicked me out of camp for bouncing around. I was waiting for you THERE" she giggled

Ravenfire felt proud. Having an apprentice wasn't so bad, and it took her mind off all the bad thoughts. Once they got to the Riverpack border, Ravenfire stopped. "Now, tell me what you smell.", she said.

Ravenfire nodded, but tensed. Dovepaw was correct, but praise would have to wait. They had a Riverpack patrol to deal with. "Dovepaw, get down. Hide in the reeds.", she whispered, getting low to the ground.

Dovepaw crouched low to the ground, blue gray hidden as well as it could be... her blue eyes were wide, but she tried to be brave, like Ravenfire, like Rainstar...
she breathed in the scent... she would never forget it... it reminded her of Clearpaw!
