Phoenixfeather lie in the nursery, panting. She winced in pain as contractions racked her body like waves on the river. Echohowl arrived with herbs. She sat down next to the mother-to-be and whispered words of encouragement, placing a gentle paw on the she-wolf's shoulder.

Venomfang paced around nervously outside the nursery. "C'mon Echohowl, hurry up," he muttered.

After what seemed an eternity, Echohowl padded out of the nursery, and dipped her head to Venomfang. "Congradulations! You have a son and a daughter. You may see them now.", she said softly, and stepped out of the way.
Phoenixfeather lay inside, licking each little pup gently with her tongue.

Venomfang walked in, seeing his daughter and son. "Phoenixfeather," he whispered.

"Venomfang, our children, they're..", Phoenixfeather replied, but was too overwhelmed with happiness to finish the statement. She reached up to lick her mate's cheek, and turned back to their pups. "What should we name them?"

Venomfang returned the lick and focused on his children. The male was shadow black, with a tawny coloured tail. Instantly, he thought of his dear friend, Thunderheart. "Thunderpup. The male will be Thunderpup, after Thunderheart," he stated, licking his son.

Phoenixfeather smiled and nodded. "And the she-wolf...I'll name her after my mother. Graypup." She sighed in contentment as she stared proudly at her happy, little family. It's what Phoenixfeather always wanted.

Venomfang walked around to Pheonixfeather's neck, and laid behind it, laying his head on her shoulders. "Our happy family," he sighed happily. Thunderpup yipped.

Phoenixfeather angled her head to touch noses with Venomfang. "Yes.", she replied softly.
