Whitestar leaped onto the Tree Stump. Today was an important day for three young wolves: her son, Snakepup, and Jerome. She cleared her throat and yowled the customary calling. "Let all those old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath the Tree Stump for a Pack meeting!"
Echohowl came out of her den and sat to the right beside the Tree Stump, looking up at her leader. Orchidfrost and Sunspark sat down, while Moonrun and Phoenixfeather poked their heads out of the nursery. Littlepup glanced up at his mother excitedly.

Ravenmane joined his packmates under the tree stump. he watched his son join Littlepup. Snakepup held his head high and calmly, but Ravenmane could see the excitement shine in his son's eyes. he felt a prickle of pride. his son was going to be an apprentice.

Whitestar called Littlepup and Snakepup forward. "By naming apprentices, it shows that Shadowpack is strong. These two young wolves that you see before you have endured so much as pups, and it is high time they became apprentices. Littlepup, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Littlepaw. Your mentor will be Ravenmane. And Snakepup, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Snakepaw. Your mentor will be Sunspark.", she announced. Littlepaw's tail wagged as he stepped forward to lick his mother's shoulder, then turned towards Ravenmane. Sunspark was very surprised as she watched Snakepaw.

Jerome stepped forward, anxious to see what his leader had in store for him.
Moonfeather watched from beside Whitestar, observing the ceremony.

When the noise settled down, Whitestar turned to Jerome. "You have decided to join us, and so now, I will give you your warrior name. From now on, you will be called Kestrelhowl.", she said.

Ravenmane touched noses with his new apprentice then glanced at his son.
Snakepaw studied Sunspark as he touched noses with his new mentor. He seemed pleased. "When do we start training?" he asked, his voice fighting to hide the excitement that threatened to break free.
Ravenmane turned back to Littlepaw. "I wont be easy on you." he warned. "Think you can handle me?" his voice was teasing.

"We'll start now, if Ravenmane wants to join us to show you and Littlepaw the territory and borders.", Sunspark replied.
"Yeah!", Littlepaw woofed, and growled playfully.
Whitestar smiled as she watched the new mentors and apprentices. She turned to Kestrelhowl. "Though it is traditional for new warriors to sit vigil, you happen to be a special case, as this is not your birthpack. So, you have a choice. You can sit vigil, or, like Orchidfrost, you can choose not to.", she woofed.
