Moonfeather followed Echohowl and Whitestar.

After running non stop, they arrived at camp. Blood-scent soured Moonfeather's nose, making her face cringe. Bursting in camp, she found the pack surrounding bodies. A sharp gasp came from Moonfeather as she saw Ashfang, broken and missing pieces of himself. Blood stained every inch of his ashy gray fur. "No!" she howled, and fell to the ground. Tokeshima, Starscream, and Layla were laying there to. "What happened?" she growled.

Echohowl frowned as she too, spotted Ashfang's mangled body. Inside, she was horrifyed. Whitestar sighed. How much more death need surround this Pack?, she pondered to herself.

"No! Ashfang!" Moonfeather cried, buring her snout in his matted fur. "Don't leave me! No!!! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Forgive me! Forgive me!" she cried in his chest. Venomfang and Jerome pulled Moonfeather away by her back legs and into the Warrior's den. "No! Let me go! Ashfang! Wake up! I'm sorry I yelled! You're my best friend!" she cried, trying to drag herself back towards her old flame. Sundance took Venomfang's place to comfort Moonfeather.

Venomfang dipped his head. "Welcome back Whitestar, sorry you have to see this. Right after you left, we found them already dead. Phoenixfeather believes that Layla, er, had puppies. Ash's puppies," he stuttered. Moonfeather's cries could be heard from the den. Swanflight cringed. "Poor Moonfeather. You know you have to choose a deputy later, correct?"

Swanflight nodded. "Okay. What should we do about the bodies? Bury them right away or sit vigil?" Venomfang asked.
